We know that it can be intimidating to visit a church worship service and not know what to expect. We've answered a few common questions here, but feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.
We use the church facilities of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church at 701 6th St. New Westminster. We meet at 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Sundays. We also worship on New Year's Day, Good Friday, Ascension Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve. Our worship services are usually around one hour long. We would love to have you join us.
Yes, please do! We welcome and encourage children to be present in our worship. If you have young children, don't be afraid to bring them along. We have childcare available for children under 3 years old and also an optional Sunday school class for young children during the evening service.
Our worship is simple, yet rich in meaning and history; not ritualistic, but structured. We incorporate the elements of worship that are commanded and exemplified in Scripture such as Scripture reading, preaching, prayer, singing, giving, and celebrating the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper. We celebrate the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of every other month.
Our worship is Word-centred, which means that we read from the Bible, hear the Bible preached, and sing songs that are saturated with biblical content.
Corporate worship is a conversation between God and His people. When His Word is read and preached, He is speaking to us; when we listen, sing, pray, and give, we are responding to Him.
